      International Academy For Dog Trainers And Behaviourists

IADTB Level 1 Intermediate Dog Trainer.

There is are a number of self-directed, online web based support and formal hours to complete with this course.

The completed course time will be dependent on the amount of time the learner can dedicate to the course.

* 1 Day Practical .

To be eligible for this course you must be able to show 250hrs dog training experience.

Units of study:

Here is just a short example of some of content contained within the units.

  • Responsible dog ownership and welfare
  • Understanding the difference between a dog handler, trainer and instructor and the traits of a good trainer
  • Roles and responsibilities (including legal) of a dog trainer, dog handlers and owners
  • Understanding the basic principles of dog training and the most appropriate and effective motivational training techniques and methods to use
  • The use of training tools
  • A brief understanding of dog behaviour and be able to manage and fix various types of dog behaviour. (This is more in-depth in the IADTB Advanced Level 2 Dog Trainer and the IADTB Level 4 Behaviourist and Advanced Canine Aggression courses).
  • Legislation.
  • Teaching & Assessment.

Organising your own learning is an essential part of progressing through the units and completing the unit tests. Resources and support are provided via the IADTB online virtual learning platform and you will be assigned a unique access code to access your personal area.


All courses involve a degree of online theory work as well as hands-on practical training with a final assessment at our training centre, dogs will be provided for you to work with and for final assessment.

The practical training day will consist of 3 parts, all dog's will be provided as well as light refreshment's.

  • The IADTB online learning platform includes suggested templates for note taking, recording you're learning and activities and the keeping of an effective portfolio. Students may wish to print and complete these to keep in a physical A4 ring binder or may choose to do so in an electronic format. Either is acceptable.

IADTB students are not alone and will be assigned an IADTB instructor to guide and support you throughout the course.

IADTB Level 2 Advanced Dog Trainer. (Diploma)


There is also a number of self-directed, on line web based support and formal hours to complete with this course.

To be eligible to apply for this course you must be able to show evidence of 500hrs or more dog training experience, or 250hrs and have successfully completed the IADTB Level 1 Intermediate Dog Trainer course.


It is also possible to attain a distinction in this course, this is achieved by grading 95% and above.

IADTB Course Director.

This course allows IADTB Level 3 Dog Training Instructors to deliver IADTB course's.

1 Day Course..

To be eligible to apply for this course you must have completed the IADTB Level 2 Advanced Dog Trainer and the IADTB Level 3 Dog Training Instructor courses.

This course will also involve the course director learning how to use the IADTB online learning platform.

You must also have relevant teaching experience delivering course content.

IADTB Advanced Canine Aggression.

This course is based on dog aggression, consultations and assessments.

This is a stand alone course therefore you do not need to complete any of our other courses to apply for this Advanced Canine Aggression course.

There is also the option of a 1 day practical.

All the theory-based part of the course is completed online where you will be enrolled on to our digital learning platform.

When you enrol onto one of our courses you will receive a unique IADTB code that allows you access to your training class on our virtual learning platform.


Her students can upload completed coursework and interact in the virtual classroom with your IADTB instructor.

We also have the option of doing remote practical training sessions with the learner, this is where we can set up a remote observation link with you and your IADTB trainer/assessor for your practical work (suitable for students outside of the UK).


Our courses are currently going through the CPD accreditation so you know our courses will count towards your further studies.
